Brian Dunseth who was recently told he wouldn't be on the Dallas Burn squad for the upcoming season played the first half and started the second half for the Galaxy. Carlos Ruiz has two more seasons on his current contract. However, Soccer America is reporting that talks have started to extent his loan deal from Municipal until the end of the 2007 season. Municipal chief, German Villa was in LA yesterday to meet with league Deputy Commissioner Ivan Gazidas, LA GM Doug Hamilton and Ruiz' agent Richard Motzkin. LA are looking to lock Ruiz into as long a contract as possible. Municipal want to insure that if any team comes enquiring about his services that there is a procedure in place that would be most advantageous to them. And the star striker wants to earn the league maximum. According to information made public by the MLS Players Union recently, Ruiz currently makes $50,000 a year though Municipal do supplement that wage. The maximum he could receive is $280,000.

What is interesting are Ruiz' comments reported here earlier this week where he stated he wanted MLS to own him outright and sever any ties with Municipal.

The Associated Press is reporting that Carlos Ruiz is back in LA and was at practice today. GM Doug Hamilton still isn't happy with the reason Ruiz missed the first two day's of practice. "For us, it's not a big deal,'' Hamilton said. "He communicated beforehand. We knew about it. It doesn't mean there won't be a conversation between he and I. Just because I know about it, doesn't mean that I like it.''

Also, Ruiz isn't happy with his current contract status. Currently, he is on loan to MLS from Municipal in his native Guatamala. Ruiz said through an interpreter, "I'm ready to stay here in MLS. I just want MLS to have 100 percent of my contract." We have heard that part of the problem with Ruiz going to England on loan this winter was because Municipal were asking too much compesation. This report is unconfirmed but could be why he is looking to no longer be owned by Municipal.

Hamilton is planning to meet with Ruiz when he does return to LA to discuss possible punishment for his absence.

Also missing was Cobi Jones who was excused due to illness.
Spanish media, Marca.com, now is reporting that Antonio Martinez is now with Spanish 2nd Division side Salamanca. Martinez was picked up by LA in the trade with Dallas which sent Ezra Hendrickson and Gavin Glinton to Dallas. LA already recieved an extra second round pick (#11 over all) in the SuperDraft because MLS was able to resign him to a new contract.
