Today's Washington Post is reporting that MLS is near to closing a deal with Real Madrid to tour the US this summer. The Spanish Giants are thought to be the MLS All-Stars oppenant for the Mid-Season Festival and the Galaxy are throught to be a possible opponent for Real at the Rose Bowl. The All-Star game is July 24th, so any match between Real and LA would be around that date. Sources say, an announcement is expected next week.

With a line-up that can only be described as Junior Varsity (no regular starter played more than 45 minutes), the Galaxy managed to produce a 1-1 tie tonight in Nashville against Mexican side, Tecos de UAG. Arturo Torres scored the lone Galaxy goal just before the break.

The galaxy announced today that all games broadcast this season on KCAL 9 will have Spanish language commentary available in addition to the channel's regular English language commentary on the SAP function.

With the friendly against Iran at the Rose Bowl only 2 weeks away, the Washington Post is reporting that the Iranian National team is having trouble getting entry visas to allow them to travel to the US.
In today's SFV Tribune Fred Robledo goes into more detail on Cobi Jones' surgery yesterday and the Quadricep injury he's been battling all preseason. Robledo also talks to Sigi Schmid about "Memo" Gonzalez' lack of playing time.

Striker Alejandro Moreno is quoted in today's NY Times dispelling the myth that baseball is more popular in Venezuela. The article focus' Venezuela's recent impressive run in World Cup qualifying matches.
A team made up of Galaxy reserves lost to UCLA yesterday 3-1. Alejandro Moreno scored the lone Galaxy goal. Cobi Jones played the first half while recovering from injury.
More comments from Cobi Jones in today's Nashville Tennessean as they sell the match against Ticos being played next Wednesday.

As expected, there are several preseason/prematch articles today.

Llew Lewellyn on CyberSoccerNews talks to the teams offseason additions about their roles on the team and what to expect starting tomorrow. He also discusses the most recent addition of Marcelo Silveria Saragosa to the teams midfield and how the pitch, now 82 yeards wide help the team. Chivas owner, Jorge Vergara, spoke to The Hitchhikers Guide last night about the possible expansion team. According to Vergara, LA and Houston are the final two possible locations for the team to play. Money is still the key negotiation point.
Jovan Kirovski spoke with Marc Connolly at ESPN Soccernet recently about his move to LA.
